Moeller DuraMax Flo n’go LE Fluid Transfer Pump and 14-Gallon Rolling Gas Can Reviews

I was really looking foward to getting this. Instead of carrying two 6 gallon cans I could roll one unit. After I got it I wish I didn’t waste my money. There are two little valves (same as those little garden hose shut-offs)which are small and difficult to get to and I have smaller hands. Then the valve that is further in came loose. After several emails and phone calls they said I had to get a speacial screw driver to tighten the handle. The unit holds 14 gallons but you can only get TWELVE out!! There are 2 gallons that can’t be emptied. So its very difficult to get the tank empty for the off season. VERY DIFFICULT. The hose for the dispenser is so thin and soft that it collapses very easily restricting the flow. Once the hose is kinked from normal storage the flow is very restricted. There is no way to lock the dispenser on (which I understand) which means you have to hold the handle the whole time. And the flow under ideal conditions if very slow. You will be holding that thing a long time. I used a wire tie to hold it open. My advise would be to buy two 6 gallon cans and one of those plastic siphons (less than .00 for all) you will be much happier.

As the other reviewer pointed out this thing isn’t what you want. I agree, you can’t get all the gas out and it is very slow to drain. Using gravity it took me at least a half hour to drain the tank. The wheels stopped working after the first warm day that expanded the tank. It might be better if you some how made a new output hose for it, but then again aren’t they spose to figure that out at the factory….

Pondmaster PMK1250 Pond Filter with 250gph Pump and Bonus Fountain Head Reviews

We have 2 of these filter/pumps - one rated at 500 gph and one rated at 250 gph. We use the smaller one for the waterfall in our pond and the larger pump is used as an aerator, water cleaner, etc. They come with 2 sections of tubing for extra height should it be needed and 2 fountain heads. We run the larger pump without a head on it for maximum flow.

One minor problem is that if you don’t weight the thing down, it will eventually float. That problem is solved (as per the instructions) by taking the filter section apart and putting in some small stones. We used some flat stones in each of the 4 corners of the filter box and have not had a problem.

The filter box is easy to unhook from the pump and the filter media are easy to clean out and are reusable. We just hose the filters off. You can leave the pump in the water while you’re working on the filter box. When you unhook the filter box from the pump, be sure to unplug the pump. That way there’s no problem with fish getting sucked into the intake. We’ve never even had a close call, but if you have small fish and they get too close to the intake, they might get sucked in.

We run these filter/pumps 24/7 and plan to run the larger one all winter.

UPDATE: June 18, 2009 - see my review on a smaller version of this pump Pondmaster 02215 500 GPH Pond Pump. We are buying another set of filter media as the current sets are finally wearing out. We run both pumps 24/7/365 with no problems.

Whisper 100 Aquarium Air Pump Reviews

I have a 95 gallon tank and have went through several of these whisper 100’s to power multiple airstones. At first it blows very strong air through both outlets. Over time one or both of the outlets stops blowing air, or blows it so weakly that a bubble or 2 might come out of the airstone. These are made so cheaply and I am about to complain to the company. I have went through 4 in the last year. I guess the diaphrams over time just conk out. I am awaiting a few rena 400 pumps and hope they are more reliable.

I have a 55 gallon aquarium but it is deep, so I needed a powerful air pump replacement when my unit failed. I got overnight shipping on this, because my fish could not wait. When I took it out of the box and hooked it in, it was VERY loud-but it had good aeration. On the second day, there was no output from one of the ports; and on the morning of the third day there was no output at all. But it had finally gotten quiet!! I placed another overnight order and got my original brand of pump and have had no problems. The whisper pump will not be recommended by me to anyone. The box was well packed and undamaged, so obviously the QA at the factory was not completed.
